Australia Giving immigration assistance for a fee is a regulated occupation. Registered migration agents hold a MARN and appear on OMARA’s public register. Since 22 March 2021 Australian lawyers holding an unrestricted practising certificate are regulated by their legal profession regulator instead, and are no longer eligible to be on the register. United Kingdom Immigration advice in the UK may only be given by advisers regulated by the IAA or by members of a designated professional body such as the SRA-regulated solicitors. IAA 45 guides 
Canada Only RCICs, lawyers and paralegals in good standing, or notaries in Quebec may charge for immigration representation. CICC 22 guides 
New Zealand Giving New Zealand immigration advice requires a licence unless an exemption applies; the register of licensed advisers is public. IAA NZ 22 guides 
Singapore Singapore does not licence immigration consultants as such; work pass applications are filed by employers or by MOM-licensed employment agencies. MOM 23 guides 
Ireland Ireland does not issue a separate licence for immigration advisers. Immigration permissions are handled by Immigration Service Delivery (ISD), within the Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration. ISD’s online Applicant Representative feature is built for legal professionals, and a firm’s first administrator on it must be a registered solicitor. The Law Society’s Find a Solicitor search lists solicitors, solicitor firms and EU lawyers entitled to practise in Ireland, and complaints against solicitors and barristers go to the Legal Services Regulatory Authority. Germany Germany does not issue a separate immigration-adviser licence. The Legal Services Act (RDG) permits out-of-court legal services — any activity on another person’s specific case that requires a legal assessment of that case — only where that Act or other legislation allows it. The Federal Code for Lawyers makes a lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) the independent adviser and representative in all legal matters, while registration under the RDG itself is limited to listed fields such as collection services, pension consultancy and foreign law.
