Germany

Germany does not issue a separate immigration-adviser licence. The Legal Services Act (RDG) permits out-of-court legal services — any activity on another person’s specific case that requires a legal assessment of that case — only where that Act or other legislation allows it. The Federal Code for Lawyers makes a lawyer (Rechtsanwalt) the independent adviser and representative in all legal matters, while registration under the RDG itself is limited to listed fields such as collection services, pension consultancy and foreign law. Unpaid help is allowed, but outside family and similarly close relationships it must be given by, or under the instruction of, a qualified person.
